Jumping through July

It seems like summer is just flying by! Looking back through pictures from this month I realize we have really been making the most of these hot summer days!

The beginning of the month we spent our annual week at the beach with Kevin's side of the family. I can not describe how much fun it is to have that many family members under one roof for a week!

Olivia has a total of 7 cousins on that side of the family with one cousin being only a month older than she is! I think she was a little overwhelmed at first, but she quickly found her voice, loved all the attention..

…and began stealing toys in no time.

She is very obviously an only child and has some serious not sharing issues we are working through.

Overall the week was a huge success! Like our last beach trip, Olivia thoroughly enjoyed the tide pools and eating handfuls of sand. We did bring a small plastic pool and let the little kiddos sit and play when the tide was too high (and no tide pools). It was such a great beach hack and I highly recommend it-although I didn't actually have to CARRY said pool so I think others may disagree.

The really big news of the week-Olivia was officially crawling the second to last day! Immediately Kevin and I both were not only extremely proud parents, but became painfully aware of how much more work a mobile baby can be! Starting your baby proofing the same weekend you come back from a week vacation I 10/10 do not recommend.

Shortly after crawling Olivia has already figured out there is more to traveling. She has started to pull up on anything that supports her. It makes my heart explode when she does it and then looks at me-SO proud of herself. I think we see Physical Therapy in September and I'm also thinking we may all three be walking into that appointment! We will see!

Maybe some reading the blog updates won't remember, but there was a time (several times) that we were very concerned with Olivia's lack of desire to eat. It was a struggle to get through feeding times and in fact, one of the reasons we were held in the NICU for a while. Olivia does not seem to have that problem anymore! Since starting solid foods, her love of eating has exponentially improved. She is still not a fan of formula, so we have to be sneaky with mixing it into foods, but so far all other foods she has tried she has loved. Aside from green beans and carrots, watermelon is another favorite. No teeth yet! But she seems to be teething, so maybe a tooth will pop through in the next several weeks.

With only one month of summer left, we are getting in as much pool time as possible. We also found a splash pad near our house that I have taken Olivia to on several occasions. Unfortunately now that she is crawling, it is harder to take pictures so-no picture proof. Maybe next months post-which is also her birthday month. I can't believe she will be a one year old in three weeks. Man, time really is flying...
